Caribbean (Shoulder Season: Late April–early June & September–early November)
Avoid the spring break and holiday rush by cruising the Caribbean in shoulder season. While it overlaps with hurricane season, flexible travelers who purchase travel insurance can enjoy serious savings and warm weather with fewer crowds.

I have cruised in April 2024 and April 2025 out of Miami and the weather was great! Not too hot.

Travis and I cruised during Veterans Day November 2018 and we had no rain! 

We loved our Eastern Caribbean cruise! 

Mexican Riviera (Shoulder Season: May & October)
These months offer fantastic weather, fewer travelers, and great cruise deals. It is ideal for those wanting a peaceful and relaxing vacation without the spring break chaos or winter rush.

The Mediterranean is magical year-round, but shoulder season offers comfortable temperatures, fewer crowds in places like Rome or Barcelona, and lower airfare. You still get sunshine, sea breezes, and stunning coastal views, just with more elbow room and less heat.

Theme Parks in Shoulder Season

Disneyland & Disney World
Visiting during January–early March or late August–early October can help you skip the holiday chaos and enjoy shorter wait times. Bonus: hotel prices and ticket demand tend to dip during these months. Be flexible with weekdays and avoid holiday weekends to get the best experience.

We have gone to After Hours events at Disneyland like Sweethearts Nite in February 2024 and highly recommend it as it has a limited capacity.

Living in Florida, we have been able to experience Disney World throughout the year and the crowds and weather were amazing January to early March. Once Spring Break and May hit, you need a personal fan and people are coming!!

Universal Studios Hollywood & Orlando
The shoulder months (September, early November, and late January) are hidden gems. You will find less foot traffic and easier access to top rides. The weather is still great, and you will likely catch seasonal events like Halloween Horror Nights or early holiday decorations!
